“At last, after three long years, we were once again able to run our annual Swap Meet on Sunday 13th August.   For the first time, we offered those who had a long distance to travel, the opportunity to bring their caravans onto Centenary Park, the night before, ready for an early start on Sunday.  Our sincere thanks to Gary Jones, who volunteered to be in charge of the site overnight.

Sunday Morning was an early start for members and volunteers, with the first of us arriving just after 4.30 am to warm up the barbeques and to heat up the urns.  By 6 am, when the gates opened for sellers, there was a hunger awakening aroma across the Park of grilling bacon, sausages, onions and eggs cooking.  Indeed, during the morning our chefs and servers got through many kilos of bacon, six dozen eggs and around 250 sausages that were sold to buyers and sellers alike.  Add to that 50 finger buns and 40 odd donuts that were sold along with countless coffees, teas, soft drinks and flavoured milks from the canteen and no one went hungry!

There was a huge selection of goods on offer and when the buyers were able to enter at 7.30, business was immediately brisk. Vendors sold, in addition to many car parts, a veritable feast of auto mobilia including books and models were offered.

Even the weather, during the wettest South Australia August since 2018, was kind to us and the rain did not start to fall until long after everybody set off home.

Sincere thanks to everyone who made this Swap Meet happen. Particular mention should go to Event organiser, Lion Sean McCracken for his efforts.”

The sun really shone down on this vendor's variety of goods. items varied from the vintage tricycle in the foreground to a tractor seat.

The Swap Meets these days are not all about motoring. This vendor offered an eclectic mix of car parts memorabilia and other products...mostly new.

Long queues of buyers waited eagerly for the gate to be opened at 7.30 on Sunday 21st August at the resumption of Willunga Lions Annual Swap Meet.
